Independent and lost :(

Happy Independence day!

I recently read a thought provoking article by Dr Abdul Kalam and I'm just seconding his opinion along with my own thoughts.

India will change if we Indians change our attitude and behaviour. Instead of blaming the govt, politicians, media and sundry others, lets be responsible citizens first.

Instead of looking longingly at the developed western counterparts and cribbing about our country, lets stop and think about what exactly we are doing to make India a developed nation. We litter, we spit, we bribe officials, we break traffic signals, we bribe cops, we drive irresponsibly, we break laws etc etc etc etc etc............... and then we say that the govt. sucks!

I'm frustrated by the attitude of some Indians who find it very convenient to blame everything else other than their own actions for the failure of our country.
Damn them!
We can't just elect the govt and then sit back waiting to be pampered!! The govt will function properly only if we the citizens of India work for it. We question the lack of infrastructure in India but honestly how many of us pay the proper tax????
We corrupt the officials with money saying that our work will get done faster. We bribe the traffic cops after breaking the signal.
It's our fault too.

WE have to be responsible Indians first. The solution doesn't lie in running away to foreign countries, contributing to that economy, trying to blend in there and then crying for help from the Indian embassy when the people there ill-treat you.

Wake up and smell the chai/coffee or whatever you like. If WE want India to be a developed nation, we have to work for it.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Said by J F Kennedy to american people years ago. And look where America is today.

Change begins at the bottom and works it's way up.
Be a responsible Indian.

Jai hind!
